The hot yoga classes at Breathe are not Bikram yoga. Our carefully designed hot yoga classes draw from traditional Hatha asanas learned through years of dedicated yoga study and practice. At Breathe, we encourage our teachers to find their own unique teaching style rather than rigidly adhering to a scripted dialogue. In general, you will find that the average temperature during Breathe Hot Yoga classes is lower than you would find at a typical Bikram affiliated studio.
Why don't I feel hot while practicing yoga at Breathe?
If you don't feel overheated while practicing it probably means your body's cooling system is working properly.
Do you offer vinyasa flow classes at Breathe?
No. All of our classes are done without music and are based on a rigorous physical and mental discipline.
I am totally inflexible. Will I be able to do this class?
Yes. No matter what your level of flexibility you will gradually begin to lengthen your muscles and increase your body's range of motion.
Why am I not sweating during hot yoga class at Breathe?
Just because you are not dripping sweat does not mean you are not sweating. The body's cooling system relies on sweat turning to water vapor. If sweat remains on your body or falls onto the floor it is not being used to cool you. Efficient cooling takes place when sweat evaporates as it is produced, thereby immediately transferring heat out of your body and into the surrounding air.
Why is Breathe not as hot as some other hot yoga studios?
At Breathe we feel it more beneficial to focus on the physical challenge of the yoga practice rather than on surviving a super-heated room. If you do not feel challenged while practicing yoga you may not be working as hard as you could.
Do I have to be "in shape" to do this class?
No. No matter your level of fitness a regular yoga practice will help to strengthen and reshape your body into a longer, leaner and more symmetric version of itself.
